Betfair Jumps Gaming Innovation Ahead With Google Glass Integration

The many possible uses for Google Glass have been swirling around since the search engine giant unveiled its contribution to the field of wearable technology and now the world of online gambling has started to make moves to adopt the new and useful technology. Betfair, the very popular operator of both online sports betting and digital casinos has revealed that they have developed an application that will put their product offerings literally right in front of users. More specifically, the sports betting side of their company will benefit from this new technology, making it easier than ever to be directly and instantly involved in making bets on the fly, as the products roll out over the next few months.

Betfair plans to release multiple applications for the Google Glass platform to take full advantage of the wide open variety of uses and functions of this step forward in digital immersion. A mobile gambling and gaming platform was always on the horizon, someone was bound to do it at some point, the only question was which company would get there first and, ultimately, who would do it best. Betfair is now vying to be the name attached to both of those goals.

Alex Deacon, Director of Betfair explained the move very succinctly, "We have optimised our mobile web sports book to work on Google Glass and will launch it soon when we're completely happy with it." When asked about the choice to support this new technology what Betfair would be adding to the online sports betting community, he said, "a nice, slick device through which we can start sticking information up for Glassware-using customers - betting information, goal alerts, promos, market movers and so on."

This isn't an example of a company blowing smoke to improve their image as Betfair has a functional and marketable model available to be seen on At The Races, their television show. On it, consumers and technology partners were able to see the real time tracking of stats and scores that would be viewable by any user lucky enough to have a pair of Google Glasses. Currently there is a trial run happening through a technique known as a soft launch so that Betfair can test the waters of the market before diving in headlong to unveil their plans to expand across their entire suite of products such as full video slots and other digital casino games. Success here could see a whole new face on the mobile gambling market and move the industry forward.

Want to test out the many products that Betfair has available but don't have your own Google Glass yet to try out the soft launch? The Betfair Casino offers a $200 welcome package for new users to play a variety of games across their downloadable platform.
