Labouchere : Roulette Betting System Explained

Often touted as one of the most difficult betting systems used by roulette players today, the Labouchere roulette system--otherwise known as a cancellation system--is favored by professional roulette game players around the world.

How the Labouchere System Works

Like most other roulette gambling systems, the Labouchere system is menat to be used when playing outside bets such as even or odd, red or black, and high or low. It works on a progressive basis, much like the Martingale roulette system, and many players choose to use the Fibonacci sequence as a starting point. The Fibonacci sequence is 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and so on.

The idea is to add the last two numbers of the sequence and use this as the betting point. Using the first two numbers, the player may choose to bet $2.00. If the bet is won, the player would start over again with a new series of numbers. If the bet is lost, the player simply moves on to the next number in the sequence, which would be $3.00 in this example.

Labouchere System Variations

Although the Fibonacci sequence is a great starting point for many players, they can use any series of numbers of their choosing while in a Canadian online casino. High rollers can choose larger numbers, while those with a smaller budget can use a series such as 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on. It is important to remember that casino roulette tables do have minimum and maximum bet limits, so the player must make sure that the series of numbers they select will not bring them to either limit too quickly. The idea of the Labouchere roulette system is to ward off large losses and gains, allowing players to win money a few increments at a time.

Although the Labouchere system is considered difficult by many roulette players around the world, it is not impossible to learn and implement. Many players opt to practice at home with a pen and paper before putting their skills to the test in real-life scenarios.
